GI FB SYS Fall Meeting 2024

October 24-25 2024 Stuttgart

Panorama V57 Mensa Vaihingen Universität Stuttgart

Motivation

The Fachgruppen "Betriebssysteme" and "Kommunikation und Verteilte Systeme" resemble the two constituting groups of the Fachbereich Systems in the GI. Here, researchers in Germany discuss and exchange ideas as well as report to the GI which is a hub to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Fakultätentag Informatik as well as to politics. But mostly, the Fachgruppen are organizing Summer- and Winterschools, workshops and regular meetings. Members enjoy talking about research, teaching, and exchange best practices. As such, this offers the opportunity for an informal exchange. Traditionally, this is also a base for researchers in early career stages to connect to other researchers and get advice on bootstrapping their own research groups.

With a growing number of international colleagues in Germany we are changing the language of our meetings to English in order to welcome everybody to our meeting.

Program

This upcoming meeting this fall will be the first joint meeting of FG BS and FG KuVS. We will structure the two days with a joint afternoon program of 10 minute pitch talks and coffee breaks to connect. There will be a townhall meeting of the FB SYS before a social event.

On the second day, the FG BS and FG KuVS will meet separately. The Chairs of the FG BS and KuVS will take care of the Friday program. More information will be offered on the KuVS and FG BS websites.

Organization

Please contact:

Nils Aschenbruck and
Christian Becker

for information about the general meeting on Thursday October 24. Especially, if you want to give a talk.

We especially encourage researchers working on topics in the overlap of operating systems, distributed systems, and computer communication giving a pitch talk about their research on Thursday. Please contact Nils and Christian if you are interested. We will give priority to young researchers and especially to those being new to the German community.
